What’s the latest update?

Openreach are introducing staged price increases over the course of 2026 which will impact customer bills.

• 1^st July – price increase of 40%.
• 1^st October  – additional 40% increase.

Why is the switch off happening?

• The analogue network is old, fragile, and expensive to maintain
• Modern communications demand more of the network and it can’t keep pace
• The UK has been upgrading to faster, more robust, internet-based communications

What does this mean for me?

• Traditional phone lines (PSTN) will need to move to a digital service
• Office lines (ISDN) should upgrade to the latest replacement services (SIP and VOIP)
• Broadband relying on a traditional phone line may need to be upgraded
• As the switch-off approaches, the PSTN will become more fragile and prone to faults
